God responds to Habakkuk by stressing that what seems like strength or what seems like power, or what seems pleasurable, is only a useless idol that diminishes the person who values the idol. God's response also highlights the difference between God's long view and our short view. Because our lives are so short we are hindered in our ability to see the long arm of justice. Habakkuk's prophecy challenges us to try to trust in God's long perspective.
