Matthew next included the "parable of the talents". As we consider this parable, I would encourage us to focus our attention on the servant who took the money given to them, or the resources given to them, and chose to dig a hole and bury them. As I reflect on my life there have been a host of times driven by a host of reasons why I have chosen to bury my talents. I am guessing I am not the only one. Jesus' parable challenges us to take a deep dive into our motives for burying our talents--not an easy job.
